Role

AI SoC Architect – Lead the definition and design of system‑on‑chip technologies for d‑Matrix's AI compute engine, driving performance, power, thermal, memory, interconnect, and packaging decisions in collaboration with RTL & DV engineers and cross‑team partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of SoC requirements and architecture that delivers exceptional customer experiences.
• Analyze AI workloads such as transformers and CNNs across existing and new product categories to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
• Drive architecture to deliver the product, designing, implementing and evaluating efficient deep neural network architectures and algorithms.
• Conduct research to guide hardware/software co‑design of SIMD engine, control plane, data reshape engine, data converter blocks, NoC substrate, and other blocks.
• Work on various phases of our flagship product (Corsair I and II) and the next‑generation product, covering performance projection, modeling, correlation, and debug aspects.
• Engage in kernel development and support networking fabric enhancements.
• Develop and maintain tools for high‑level simulation and research to enable architectural exploration of current and future products.
• Collaborate with software teams to meet stack development milestones.
• Port customer workloads, optimize them for deployment, generate reference implementations, and evaluate performance.
• Report and present progress in a timely and effective manner.
• Contribute to publications of papers and intellectual properties.

Minimum Qualifications

• MS in Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or a related discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience in compute architecture and system design.
• Problem‑solving, self‑starter, able to effectively multi‑task and simplify complex problems to produce elegant and efficient solutions.
• 5+ years of demonstrated experience leading SoC architecture or design development.
• Expert knowledge of AI SoC architecture, requirements, and definition.
• Ability to identify potential architectural issues and design flaws early and provide effective solutions.
• Experience with CPU, GPU, ASIC, and ML accelerator architecture exploration and modeling.
• High proficiency in performance modeling, ranging from analytical to cycle‑accurate models and correlation.
• Deep, wide, and current knowledge of machine learning and modern deep learning.
• Hands‑on experience with CNN, RNN, and Transformer neural network architectures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with specialized hardware accelerator systems for deep neural networks.
• PhD in a related discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience in compute architecture and system design.
• High proficiency in algorithm analysis, data structures, and Python programming; proficiency with C/C++ preferred.
• Passionate about AI and able to thrive in a fast‑paced and dynamic startup culture.
