Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a SOC Analyst Tier 3 to serve as the escalation point for complex security events and drive advanced threat detection and incident remediation. The role is onsite in Raleigh, NC, requiring a Secret clearance and full-time commitment.

The ideal candidate will lead investigations, perform threat hunting, and enhance SIEM detections using Splunk and other tools while collaborating with security, IT, and infrastructure teams to bolster the organization's cyber defenses.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in network support, IT infrastructure, NOC, help desk, or systems administration.
• CCNA-level networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls).
• Experience with Windows and Linux environments and basic cybersecurity principles.
• Ability to work onsite in RTP, NC with secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead investigations, containment, and remediation of advanced cybersecurity incidents as escalation point.
• Conduct proactive threat hunting across enterprise environments.
• Develop, tune, and maintain SIEM detections, correlation rules, alert logic, playbooks, and response procedures.
• Utilize Splunk and other security tools to analyze logs, identify IOCs, and perform root cause analysis across endpoints, network, cloud, and identity platforms.
• Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and IT teams to strengthen detection capabilities and incident response.

Piper Companies is looking to fill the role of SOC Analyst Tier 3 for a leading technology company located in Raleigh, NC. The SOC Analyst Tier 3 serves as an escalation point for Tier 2 analysts and is responsible for advanced threat detection, incident investigation, containment, and remediation activities. The SOC Analyst Tier 3 role is onsite in Raleigh, NC 5 days a week, and requires Secret Clearence.

Responsibilities of the SOC Analyst Tier 3 Include:

• Lead the investigation, containment, and remediation of advanced cybersecurity incidents, serving as the primary escalation point for complex Tier 1 and Tier 2 security events.
• Perform proactive threat hunting activities across enterprise environments, leveraging threat intelligence, behavioral analytics, and attacker TTPs to identify previously undetected threats.
• Develop, tune, and maintain SIEM detections, correlation rules, alert logic, playbooks, and response procedures to improve security monitoring capabilities.
• Utilize Splunk and other security tools to analyze logs, identify indicators of compromise (IOCs), and conduct root cause analysis across endpoints, network, cloud, and identity platforms.
• Partner with security, infrastructure, and IT teams to strengthen detection capabilities, improve incident response processes, and support overall cybersecurity operations.

Qualifications for the SOC Analyst Tier 3 Include:

• Ability to work in the U.S. with secret clearance and able to work onsite in RTP, NC, 5 days per week.
• 2+ years of experience in network support, IT infrastructure, NOC, help desk, or systems administration.
• CCNA-level networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Experience supporting Windows and Linux environments with a basic understanding of cybersecurity principles.
• Strong communication skills, proactive attitude, and ability to work effectively within a team-focused culture.

Compensation for the SOC Analyst Tier 3 Includes:

• $130,000-$180,000 annually
