Job summary

Piper Companies in Raleigh, NC is seeking a SOC Analyst Tier 3 to serve as escalation for Tier 2, focusing on advanced threat detection, incident investigation, containment, and remediation. Onsite in RTP, NC five days a week with Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities include leading investigations, hunting threats, tuning SIEM detections, and coordinating with security and IT teams to strengthen operations. Compensation ranges from $130,000 to $180,000 annually with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in the U.S. with secret clearance and onsite in RTP, NC, 5 days per week.
• 2+ years of experience in network support, IT infrastructure, NOC, help desk, or systems administration.
• CCNA-level networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Experience supporting Windows and Linux environments with a basic understanding of cybersecurity principles.
• Strong communication skills, proactive attitude, and ability to work effectively within a team-focused culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead the investigation, containment, and remediation of advanced cybersecurity incidents, serving as the primary escalation point for complex Tier 1 and Tier 2 security events.
• Perform proactive threat hunting activities across enterprise environments, leveraging threat intelligence, behavioral analytics, and attacker TTPs to identify previously undetected threats.
• Develop, tune, and maintain SIEM detections, correlation rules, alert logic, playbooks, and response procedures to improve security monitoring capabilities.
• Utilize Splunk and other security tools to analyze logs, identify indicators of compromise (IOCs), and conduct root cause analysis across endpoints, network, cloud, and identity platforms.
• Partner with security, infrastructure, and IT teams to strengthen detection capabilities, improve incident response processes, and support overall cybersecurity operations.

The SOC Analyst Tier 3 serves as an escalation point for Tier 2 analysts and is responsible for advanced threat detection, incident investigation, containment, and remediation activities.
