Job summary

Heartland Business Systems seeks an entry-level Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst I to provide real-time security monitoring and threat hunting for clients across various industries. You will work with services such as XDR, SIEM, vulnerability scanning, firewall, and endpoint management while delivering exceptional customer service.

The role includes on-call rotation, incident documentation, and collaboration with clients to validate and resolve security incidents and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• 1+ years in IT administration, help desk, or equivalent experience.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
• Associate of Applied Science (AAS) or equivalent experience.
• Experience with security tools.
• Microsoft SC-900 within 6 months of employment.
• Microsoft SC-300 within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides security event monitoring and analysis to identify critical cyber security events for clients.
• Conducts research, analysis, and correlation across diverse data sets.
• Performs event correlation to gain situational awareness and assess attack effectiveness.
• Documents and elevates incidents with history, status, and potential impact.
• Notifies clients of suspected incidents and articulates event history and impact.
• Works with customers to validate and resolve security incidents and vulnerability compliance.
• Provides recommendations for system tuning and enhancements.
• Creates basic analytic rules for automation approvals.
• Supports SOC services including Managed XDR/EDR, Security Awareness Training, and Vulnerability Scanning.
• Characterizes network traffic to identify anomalies and threats.
• Conducts recurring customer status calls.
• Drafts SOPs as directed.
• Participates in an after-hours on-call rotation.
