Job summary

Heartland Business Systems is seeking an SOC Analyst I to deliver real-time security monitoring and threat hunting in our SOC. You will work with clients across industries providing managed security services including XDR, SIEM, vulnerability scanning, and endpoint management.

Responsibilities include alert analysis, incident documentation and escalation, customer communication, and basic rule creation for automation.

Qualifications

• 1+ years working in IT administration, help desk or equivalent experience.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
• AAS or equivalent experience.
• Experience with security tools.
• Microsoft SC-900 within 6 months of employment.
• Microsoft SC-300 within 1 year of employment.
• Outcome-focused mindset and strong prioritization.
• Professional attitude and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provides security event monitoring and analysis to identify cyber security events for clients.
• Conduct research, analysis, and correlation across data sets.
• Perform event correlation to gain situational awareness and assess attacks.
• Document and escalate incidents with history, status, and impact.
• Notify clients of suspected incidents and discuss history and impact.
• Work with customers to validate/resolve incidents and vulnerabilities.
• Provide recommendations for system tuning and enhancements.
• Create basic analytic rules for automation.
• Support SOC services including XDR, EDR, awareness training, and vulnerability scanning.
• Characterize network traffic to identify anomalies and threats.
• Participate in after-hours on-call rotation.
