Job summary

Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska, is seeking a Sobering Center Technician to assist in direct client care within the Sobering Center, under supervision of the Program Manager and Lead Technician. This full-time role supports clients who are intoxicated but do not require higher care.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, one year of patient care experience, Alaska ETT and Mandt certifications (or willingness to obtain), and a valid Alaska driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, some college preferred. Must be willing to learn and participate in the Corporations sponsored technical training, CPR, First Aid and Emergency Medical Skills training for Sobering Center duties.
• One year work history. Experience in providing customer or patient care preferred.
• State of Alaska Certified ETT within three months or as available. Mandt Certification within three months or as available. Must have a valid Alaska driver's license at time of hire. Must pass a criminal background check.
• Basic computer knowledge, accuracy and dependability a must.
• Ability to work calmly and professionally in a challenging environment. Some knowledge and experience in working with individuals with substance abuse and related problems. Able to administer client screening, assess results and apply appropriate interventions through the SBIRT protocol. Ability to add and subtract money. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of rapidly changing situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to appropriately respond to aggressive and violent client behaviors.
