Job summary

State of Georgia seeks a SOAR Disability Benefits Specialist for the Region 3 Field Office in Decatur, GA. This hybrid role involves community outreach, intake, and guiding applicants through SSI/SSDI processes, with up to 40% travel and 3 days per week in-office.

The position requires 2+ years working with homeless individuals with serious mental illness or co-occurring substance use disorder, strong organizational and communication skills, and a valid driver’s license. SOAR training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate outreach to community providers, hospitals, and state agencies to facilitate SOAR processes.
• Assist eligible individuals to prepare SSI/SSDI applications and collect medical evidence.
• Maintain data and documentation; prepare monthly performance and outcome reports.
