Job Title: SOA Software Architect
Place of Performance: State Offices Harriman Campus, Building 12, Albany, NY 12240 (50% Remote)
Minimum Experience: 5+ Years
Rate: $59/hr - $64/hr
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 30 Months

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Software Architect to lead Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) efforts for critical applications and services. This role involves designing scalable, high-availability infrastructure, implementing service orchestration, and resolving performance issues across enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with Java architecture and IBM SOA/ESB tools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and enforce SOA design standards to ensure consistent object naming, structure, and deployment
• Architect and implement optimized batch processing systems
• Integrate third-party software services into SOA infrastructure
• Utilize IBM SOA tools such as WebSphere Business Modeler, Process Server, BPM, and Rational Software Architect
• Design and implement BPEL solutions and infrastructure for IBM BPM and Integration Developer
• Use IBM ESB tools (WebSphere Message Broker, WPS/BPM, DataPower) for data mapping and transformation
• Implement orchestration workflows across diverse business domains
• Apply ORM technologies including JPA and Hibernate for data persistence

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Java-based application architecture including design, integration, and persistence layers
• Minimum 3.5 years of experience designing API-wrapped services using SOAP, REST, EJBs, and SCA
• Minimum 3 years of experience using IBM SOA tools (WBM, RAD, WAS, WPS, WID, RSA) for BPM integration
• Minimum 3 years of experience with IBM ESB tools (WMB, WPS, DataPower) for data transformation and messaging
• Minimum 1 year of experience importing WBM models into WID and RSA, and implementing BPEL-based orchestration
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field
• SOA Architect Certification strongly preferred
