Job summary

Vail Resorts in Colorado is seeking a Specialist Snowmaking – Controller for the 2026/27 winter season. This office-based role supports outside snowmaking by controlling several machine rooms from a computer console using various software. Strong communication, organization and reporting skills are required.

The position pays $24.64–$35.20 per hour, is winter seasonal with full-time hours, and housing is available. Benefits include training, wellness programs, and industry-leading perks.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR.
  • Fluent English in reading, writing and conversation.
  • Ski or snowboard ability at a level 6 or higher.
  • Grooming experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to snowmaking policies, safety guidelines and best practices.
  • Operate transportation vehicles per procedures.
  • Understand safe operation of snowmaking equipment.
  • Follow enterprise safety standards and manuals.
  • Operate and maintain snowmaking monitoring systems.
  • Maintain regular communication between shifts and teams.
  • Report and monitor snowmaking production and resources.
  • Assist with standard snowmaking duties and equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate with Mountain Operations departments (Grooming, Race, Ski Patrol, Lift Maintenance, Fleet).
  • Perform fan gun maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
