Job summary

Cranmore Mountain Resort is seeking snowmakers to enhance guest experience by creating safe and high-quality snow conditions. You will set up, run, and adjust snow guns, interpret snow plans, and help maintain equipment for continuous operation. This is a full or part-time seasonal role with day and night shifts available.

  • Starts up, shuts down and maintains snowmaking equipment including tower guns, fan guns, land guns, hydrants, air/water pipes and hoses.
  • Makes snow in correct location by interpreting snow plan and aiming guns.
  • Monitors equipment and conditions to prevent freezing and ensure efficient operation.
  • Maintains consistent snow quality by adjusting snow guns to temperature and wind.
  • Ensures safety of guests by proper setup and safe operation of equipment.
  • Assists in training programs and participates in safety meetings.
  • Contributes to team effort and maintains a positive attitude.
  • Follows supervisor directions and meets department goals.

Job description

Cranmore is seeking individuals to enhance guest experience by creating safe and high-quality snow conditions. Snowmakers will place quality snow where needed by setting up, running, and adjusting snow guns. As a customer-focused organization, a crucial part of each employee’s job is to get and keep guests. Full or part-time seasonal employment; day and night shifts available.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Starts up, shuts down and maintains snowmaking equipment including tower guns, fan guns, land guns, hydrants, air/water pipes and hoses.
  • Makes snow in correct location by interpreting snow plan and aiming guns.
  • Monitors equipment and conditions in order to prevent freezing of equipment and ensure efficient operation of snowmaking equipment at all times.
  • Aids in record keeping, follows directions by communicating with control room and supervisor.
  • Maintains consistent product (snow) by adjusting snow guns to temperature and wind conditions.
  • Maintains safe skiing area by setting up, storing and operating equipment in a safe manner.
  • Maintains hydrants by making repairs.
  • Assist in all company and department training programs as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Contribute to team effort by participating in job sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  • Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor.
  • Flexible working hours. Some job sharing may be required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in daytime and nighttime.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions while making snow, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Compensation (pay rate) is determined by AM and PM shifts
