Job summary

Aspen Skiing Company is seeking a Snowmaker Basic to support daily snowmaking duties across its resorts. You will operate shovels, guns, hoses, and hydrants as part of a crew to maintain snow coverage under variable weather conditions.

Responsibilities include transporting gear, understanding mountain layouts, monitoring snow quality, and reporting hazards. Applicants must be 18+, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate, follow oral and written directions in English.
• Ability to ski or ride at an intermediate level preferred.
• Ability to work in collaboration with others to achieve team goals.
• Ability to remain focused, organized, flexible, and detail-oriented.
• Follows all safety policies and procedures and exercises caution when working.

• Operation of snowmaking equipment per ASC safety standards.
• Transporting equipment on varied terrain using trucks, 4-wheelers, snowmobiles.
• Learn mountain layout and snowmobile routes for efficient operations.
• Monitor snow quality and adjust equipment to maintain coverage.
• Identify hazards in the snowmaking system and communicate them.

The Snowmaker Basic is responsible for ensuring an exceptional guest experience by producing quality snow conditions across our resorts. The Snowmaker position is weather-dependent and supports day-to-day operations, working as part of a team to establish and maintain adequate snow coverage until conditions no longer require snowmaking efforts. • Operation of various snowmaking equipment including shovels, guns, hoses, hydrants, etc. according to ASC service and safety standards
• Transportation of snowmaking equipment, including driving vehicles including trucks, 4-wheelers, side-by-sides and snowmobiles on variable terrain
• Develop an understanding of mountain layout and snowmobile routes
• Monitor quality of snow and make adjustments as needed
• Recognize and communicate hazards within the snowmaking system
• Assist in maintenance and repair of snowmaking guns and snowmobiles
• Perform other duties as assigned
  

Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Valid, current, unrestricted driver’s license required
• Must pass ASC and Colorado snowmobile test

Additional Information
Work environment and physical demands

• Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time
• Regularly work in wet, cold, hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
• Must be able to frequency lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
