Job description

A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at Snowcrest Jr High for an English/Drama Teacher. This position is for 8.00 hours per day, 182 days (9 months) per year.

This position starts the upcoming 2025-26 school year.

THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED, AFTER A MINIMUM OF 5 WORKING DAYS.

Under the direction of the school principal, the teacher is responsible for educating assigned students and creating a flexible, effective learning environment. The teacher will establish rapport with students, motivate them to develop skills and knowledge, and adapt instruction to meet individual needs, in accordance with each student's ability. Professional relationships with staff and parents will be maintained.

Qualifications:

  • Teach subject matter using the adopted curriculum, integrating other appropriate learning activities.
  • Develop lesson plans, adapt curriculum for individual needs, and employ effective teaching techniques to maximize student learning.
  • Utilize computers and technological tools in instruction.
  • Manage district property, perform minor repairs, and request repairs as needed.
  • Maintain classroom organization and discipline.
  • Establish and uphold standards of behavior conducive to a productive learning environment.
  • Ensure a safe, supervised environment within the classroom and school grounds.
  • Implement techniques to measure student progress accurately.
  • Evaluate academic and personal growth, maintain records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and interpret school programs.
  • Collaborate with professional staff to support student development.
  • Demonstrate professional ethics per Utah standards.
  • Follow district policies on attendance, absences, and evaluations.
  • Maintain adequate attendance to perform job functions effectively.
  • Possess problem-solving skills.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, district personnel, and patrons.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Be knowledgeable of the State Core Curriculum and Board-adopted guides.
  • Hold a valid Utah Secondary Teaching License with endorsements in English or Language Arts and Drama, Speech-Drama.
