Job summary

Discovery Land Company seeks a Certified Ski or Snowboard Instructor for Homewood Mountain & Lake Club, Lake Tahoe, CA. The role involves delivering world-class snowsports instruction to guests of all ages, using student-centered teaching methods in a safe, engaging environment.

You’ll be an ambassador for the resort, promoting safety, fun, and learning while building lasting guest relationships. You will assess progress, tailor lessons, and provide constructive feedback.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with PSIA/AASI or equivalent instructional methodologies.
  • Knowledge of local mountain terrain, conditions, and resort operations.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. Experience working with children.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, engaging snowsports instruction to guests of all ages and ability levels.
  • Tailor lessons to individual needs and goals.
  • Use modern, student-centered teaching methods to create a safe, fun learning environment.
  • Assess guest skills and progress, offering clear, constructive feedback and achievable next steps.
  • Model and promote safe skiing and riding practices, including proper use of lifts and awareness of mountain conditions.
  • Act as an ambassador for the resort by delivering exceptional guest service and fostering a welcoming atmosphere on and off the snow.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, parents/guardians, and fellow team members to ensure an outstanding experience.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and behavior that reflects resort standards.
  • Assist with group organization, class assignments, and lesson scheduling as needed.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, resort programs, and safety protocols through ongoing training and certification.
  • Support resort events, programs, and initiatives that promote snowsports and enhance the guest experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Homewood Mountain & Lake Club, set on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe in Homewood, California. Homewood is seeking a Certified Ski or Snowboard Instructor to join the Snowsports Department.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for creating unforgettable experiences and lifelong memories for our guests. You will deliver world‑class snowsports instruction to students of all ages and abilities, using modern, student‑centered teaching techniques in a safe, engaging, and supportive environment. As a visible ambassador for the resort and the sport, you will inspire passion for skiing and snowboarding, foster skill development, and promote a culture of safety, fun, and learning. By building genuine connections and delivering exceptional guest service, you will help ensure our guests return season after season.

Duties & Responsibilities

Additional Requirements

Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and desire to work in fast-paced environment. Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred. Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands. Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

The Company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $24-$45 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location. Level I starting at $24/hour Level II starting at $29/hour Level III starting at $33/hour Level IV starting at $36/hour.
