Job summary

The Gabriel Group is hiring on-call Snow Shovelers for a seasonal, weather‑dependent role in Glastonbury, CT. You will de-ice and shovel snow from sidewalks and entryways on commercial properties.

Work is outdoors in all conditions, often long hours during snow storms. Must be self-motivated, punctual, detail oriented and able to work with a team or alone.

Responsibilities include operating snow removal tools, maintaining safety, and following schedules to meet client needs.

THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION THAT WORKS THE DURATION OF A SNOW STORM

is a leading provider in Landscaping, Sweeping, & Snow Removal. We give our customers the best service and use only the highest quality products to deliver outstanding results. We are looking for on-call snow shovelers to service commercial client sites.

The Snow Shoveler is responsible for working independently or with a team. Responsible for the de-icing and clearing/shoveling of snow from sidewalks, emergency doors, fire hydrant, receiving/shipping decks, for various commercial properties in an efficient manner. Worksite safety, excellent customer service, and quality workmanship are expected.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the equipment operators and plow drivers in the de-icing and clearing/shoveling of snow from sidewalks, emergency doors, fire hydrant, receiving/shipping decks, for various commercial properties on specified properties
• Always represent the company’s best interest, maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
• Maintain a clean and safe job site, while ensuring current landscape and property is not damaged in the efforts of removing snow.
• Maintain and care for your personal or company provided equipment & tools
• Proficiently and safely use snow removal equipment such as shovels, snow blowers, A and other power and manually operated tools and equipment used to perform snow removal.
• Safely and appropriately distribute de-icing solutions, including calcium chloride
• Perform highly physical work outdoors on a consistent basis in all weather conditions, specifically very cold, icy, snowy weather.
• It is required all Shovelers have cold weather gear and wear it appropriately to protect themselves against adverse weather conditions.
• Understand and meet contract scheduled deadlines without sacrificing great customer service or excellent quality.
• Work as part of a team and take direction.
• Keep accurate time sheet records, by punching in and our of app.
• Attend training classes and seminars as requested by management.
• Perform other tasks or projects as assigned/instructed by management.

Requirements

• Great time management skills; available for seasonal long hours, a clear schedule to work all hours of the day, any day of the week and a strong work ethic. This position will require, although rare, potential holiday work.

Physical Requirements

• Physical demands require constantly moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
• Frequently required to stand and walk, lift and/or move up to 50 to over 100 lbs. with assistance.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Constantly required to communicate with ability to talk and hear.Job will require constantly working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to elements.
• This can include heavy to moderate noise, extreme proximity to moving equipment or machinery, proximity to electrical energy, exposure to tools and machines used in construction industries.
