Job summary

From the Ground Up is seeking a Snow Operator to operate snow removal equipment on commercial properties in Minnesota. The role runs during the winter season and involves driving, plowing, and maintaining equipment on-site.

Expect on-call shifts from November through April with variable hours based on weather and storms. Minimum one year of heavy-equipment operation is required, along with a valid license and the ability to pass safety training.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience or proficient knowledge of snow equipment operation.

• Valid driver's license with no restrictions; ability to be insured.
• DOT physical or certification required or able to obtain.
• Able to lift 50–60 pounds and work outdoors in freezing conditions.
• Must pass safety training and use smartphone with field software.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to calls for on-call snow and ice events.
• Conduct pre-shift inspections and maintenance on equipment.
• Clear snow and ice from customer sites.
• Pile snow in designated locations only.
• Be available for communication at all times.
• Document and report obstacles at site(s).

About the Job:

A Snow Operator will be responsible for running a piece of equipment (skid loader, wheel loader, backhoe, etc.) equipped with a snow plow to remove snow from parking lots, roads, & driveways. This position requires at least 1 year experience or proficient knowledge of snow equipment operation. Candidates for this position should be available between November 1 - April 15th. Shifts range from six to 12 hours, but may require more hours for larger storms. Pay is based on experience/proficiency & availability.

Job Duties:

• Respond promptly to calls for on call snow and ice events
• Conduct pre-shift inspections and maintenance on equipment
• Clear snow and ice accumulations from customer sites
• Pile snow in designated and approved locations only
• Be available for communication at all times
• Document and report any obstacles at site(s)

Requirements:

• Able to work outdoors in freezing weather conditions
• Maintain good physical condition to be able to lift 50-60 pounds without assistance
• Valid and Clean driver's license with no restrictions, and the ability to be insured by From the Ground Up.
• Operators will need to provide certification or undergo a DOT physical.
• Ability to work well with other team members
• Pass a company safety training course
• Ability to use a smartphone for two-way communication, mobile dispatch, and our field software
• Work well under high-pressure situations
• Be punctual, reliable, and passionate about providing a high level of service to our customers.
• Minimum 1 year experience operating heavy equipment

Option for full time emp loyment in the spring may be an option.
