Job summary

Interstate Companies is seeking a reliable Seasonal Snow Operations Manager to lead snow and ice operations at large commercial properties in the Minneapolis–St. Paul market.

You will oversee on-site response, coordinate operators and equipment, monitor weather, and ensure property safety and efficiency throughout each event. Qualifications

• 2+ years of commercial snow and ice management experience preferred.
• Previous supervisory, crew-lead, or snow operations management experience strongly preferred.
• Experience operating or managing heavy snow equipment (loaders, plow trucks, skid steers, salt spreaders).
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Comfortable using smartphones, weather apps, GPS/dispatch platforms, and digital reporting tools.
• Strong situational awareness and the ability to make safe decisions quickly.
• Dependable and able to respond to winter weather on short notice.
• Ability to work extended and irregular hours during snow and ice events.

Job description

Season: Approximately October 1 – April 30

Compensation: $5,500 - $6,400 per month, based on experience

Position Overview

Interstate Companies is seeking a reliable, hands-on Seasonal Snow Operations Manager to lead snow and ice operations at large commercial properties throughout the Minneapolis / St. Paul Market.

This is a multiple site leadership position. You will be responsible for ensuring the properties, equipment, materials, and crew are prepared before winter weather arrives and that operations run safely and efficiently throughout each event.

During snow and ice events, you will lead the on-site response, coordinate operators and equipment, monitor changing weather and site conditions, communicate with our operations team, and ensure the property is maintained to Interstate’s standards.

This is not a traditional 9-to-5 position. Winter weather determines the schedule, and the right candidate must be available for nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts when conditions require it.

Key Responsibilities

Snow & Ice Operations

• Lead all snow and ice operations at the assigned properties.
• Coordinate equipment operators and sidewalk crews during winter weather events.
• Monitor weather forecasts and site conditions before, during, and after events.
• Adjust operations as weather and property conditions change.
• Ensure snow removal and deicing operations meet company and client expectations.

Pre-Season & Storm Preparation

• Learn the property, including snow storage areas, traffic patterns, priority areas, curbs, hydrants, drains, and other hazards.
• Ensure loaders, plow trucks, spreaders, and other equipment are operational and storm-ready.
• Maintain adequate inventories of salt, liquid deicer, fuel, PPE, and other winter materials.
• Complete pre-storm equipment and site inspections.
• Supervise and coordinate equipment operators and laborers.
• Train team members on property-specific procedures, equipment, and safety expectations.
• Maintain accountability and clear communication throughout winter events.

Quality & Safety

• Continuously inspect the property during and after winter events.
• Identify areas requiring additional plowing, deicing, or attention.
• Ensure company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements are followed.
• Document property damage, incidents, equipment issues, and other operational concerns.

Equipment

• Identify and troubleshoot equipment problems and coordinate with shop manager.
• Coordinate minor field repairs and coordinate with shop manager.
• Maintain overall equipment readiness throughout the winter season.

Communication & Documentation

• Serve as the primary on-site contact between the crew, Interstate’s operations team, and client representatives.
• Provide clear and timely updates throughout winter events.
• Maintain accurate records of labor hours, equipment usage, salt/liquid applications, site conditions, and property damage.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in snow, ice, wind, and extreme cold.
