Job summary

BrightView Landscapes, LLC is seeking a Snow Equipment Operator for the winter season in Warren, MI. You will operate snowplows and other heavy equipment to keep designated areas clear and safe.

This role is part-time, on-call, and paid hourly between $20 and $30, depending on experience and certifications. A valid state Driver's License is required, and prior heavy equipment operator experience is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive to multiple sites.
• Prior heavy equipment/snowplow experience required.
• Ability to work outdoors in winter conditions.
• Strong communication and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Remove snow using a snowplow and heavy equipment for extended periods of time.
• Available to report to work when snow falls and report to the jobsite.
• Deposit removed snow avoiding obstruction to trees, hydrants, or sidewalks.
• Identify and report concerns to the supervisor.
• Maintain documentation by completing job sheets after each operation.
• Be aware of safety issues and report them promptly.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

THIS ROLE REQUIRES PREVIOUS HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR EXPERIENCE AND A STATE ISSUED DRIVER'S LICENSE.

THE PAY RANGE FOR THIS ROLE IS $20-$30 PER HOUR. YOUR PAY RATE WILL BE DETERMINED BASED ON PREVIOUS APPLICABLE WORK EXPERIENCE AND ANY CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES YOU HOLD.

ALL Snow roles are PART-TIME, ON-CALL, AS NEEDED ROLES. MEANING WHEN THE SNOW FALL IS MORE THAN THE SMALL YEAR-ROUND TEAM CAN HANDLE; YOU WILL BE CONTACT AND GIVEN A REPORT TIME AND EXPECTED TO REPORT AT THAT TIME.

Job Summary

• The Snow Equipment Operator is responsible for performing safe and efficient snow removal operations throughout the winter season. This role involves operating snowplows and other heavy equipment to clear designated areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Remove snow using a snowplow and heavy equipment for extended periods of time, depending on the amount of snowfall.
• Available and prepared to report to work each time it snows, either to a central location or directly to the jobsite
• Deposit removed snow in appropriate locations, avoiding obstruction of trees, shrubs, fire hydrants, and sidewalks.
• Identify and report any concerns or incidents to the direct supervisor.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation by completing job sheets immediately following each snow removal operation.
• Be aware of safety issues or concerns and report them to the appropriate supervisor.
• Perform additional related tasks assigned by supervisor or manager.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License and the ability to drive to a variety of work locations in assigned territory.
• Reliable transportation to and from any work site.
• Prior experience operating snowplow equipment.
• Participate in routine maintenance of equipment.
• Experience working efficiently in a production-driven / fast paced environment.
• Ability to safely operate equipment.
• Effective communication skills.

Physical Demands/Requirements:

• Ability to lift and 50 pounds.
• Be at least 18 years old (21 if operating company provided vehicles)
• Possess strong stamina and have the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
• Able to safely operate landscaping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers).
• Able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, stand, walk continuously throughout the day and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
• Able to perform manual labor using a variety of hand tools (e.g. shovels, rakes)
• You are able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., safety shoes, high-visibility clothing, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, head protection)
• Landscapers who will be operating a BrightView fleet vehicle are required to have a valid driver’s license and meet company standards as it relates motor vehicle performance identified on a state issued motor vehicle record check.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if needed.
• Ability to work overnight in the winter month
• Ability to maintain, in your possession at all times, required medications to address any known allergic reactions should they occur.

Work Environment:

• Ability to work outdoors/indoors in moderate to extreme weather conditions (e.g., temperatures more than 100°F, temperatures below 32°F, various levels of humidity)
• Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
• Work outdoors near automotive traffic, bodies of water, fumes, dust, mechanical and/or electrical hazards.
• Ability to work in environments where extended periods of loud noise are present.
• Ability to work in environments where exposure to allergens such as pollen and rag weed, insects such as bees and spiders and reptiles such as lizards and snakes.
