Job summary

Prescription Landscape is seeking a Snow and Ice Equipment Operator to safely operate compact equipment (Ventrac tractors, skid steers, compact tractors) to clear snow and apply deicing materials, following site plans. You will review maps, maintain safety, perform pre/post inspections, document times and materials, and support other crews during events, including early mornings, nights, and weekends.

• Basic mechanical awareness and ability to recognize unsafe equipment conditions.
• Ability to follow site maps, work tickets, route plans, safety information, weather instructions, and verbal direction.
• Dependable attendance and ability to respond within call-in and event-readiness expectations.
• Ability to use a mobile device and Company systems for time, tickets, materials, photos, issues, and quality documentation.
• Clear communication, sound judgment, teamwork, and professional conduct per the Employee Handbook.

Responsibilities

• Operate Ventrac tractors, skid steers, compact tractors, and attachments to plow, push, broom, stack, or relocate snow and apply deicing materials.
• Review site maps and priorities before starting work.
• Maintain safe clearance from pedestrians, vehicles, buildings, curbs, and other equipment; use a spotter when required.
• Complete detail and cleanup passes and support shovel crews, truck operators, and heavy equipment operations as directed.
• Follow approved material, snow-stacking, and site-restoration instructions and report changes.

About this position

Snow and Ice Equipment Operator

Position Summary

The Snow and Ice Equipment Operator safely operates compact equipment—primarily Ventrac tractors, skid steers, compact tractors, and similar machines—to clear and treat assigned snow sites. This role is distinct from the Heavy Equipment Operator through its compact-equipment focus and supports detailed clearing, stacking, cleanup, and material application under the approved site and event plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Compact Equipment Operations

• Operate assigned Ventrac tractors, skid steers, compact tractors, attachments, and similar equipment to plow, push, broom, stack, or relocate snow and apply deicing materials.
• Review site maps, hazard notes, stacking locations, traffic patterns, surface limitations, and service priorities before beginning work.
• Maintain safe clearance from pedestrians, vehicles, buildings, curbs, landscape features, overhead hazards, and other equipment; use a spotter when required.
• Complete detail and cleanup passes and support shovel crews, truck operators, and heavy-equipment operations as directed.
• Follow approved material, snow-stacking, and site-restoration instructions and immediately report changed conditions or work outside scope.

Inspection, Documentation, and Safety

• Complete and document pre-use and post-use inspections; check attachments, cutting edges, tires or tracks, lights, alarms, fluids, controls, and safety devices.
• Perform authorized basic care, fueling, cleaning, and snow removal from equipment and report leaks, defects, damage, strikes, or unsafe conditions immediately.
• Accurately record service times, material quantities, notes, photographs, and issues in Company systems.
• Follow safe mounting, travel, backing, attachment, fueling, parking, and shutdown procedures and never operate while impaired by fatigue or another unsafe condition.
• Remain available for event schedules and communicate arrival, completion, delay, refreeze, access, and equipment status promptly.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Experience operating Ventrac tractors, skid steers, compact tractors, or similar compact equipment is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to complete Company training and hands-on verification for each assigned machine and attachment before independent operation.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet Company driving requirements when driving is assigned.
• Basic mechanical awareness and ability to recognize and report unsafe equipment conditions.
• Ability to understand and follow site maps, work tickets, route plans, safety information, weather-response instructions, and verbal direction.
• Dependable attendance and ability to respond within established call-in and event-readiness expectations.
• Ability to use a mobile device and Company systems for time, work-ticket, material, photo, issue, and quality documentation as assigned.
• Clear communication, sound judgment, teamwork, and professional conduct consistent with the Employee Handbook and Company standards.
