Job description

SNM Machine Operators 2nd and 3rd Shifts

Join to apply for the SNM Machine Operators 2nd and 3rd Shifts role at Mississippi Department of Employment Security.

We are currently seeking SNM Machine Operators for 2nd & 3rd Shifts. Starting pay rate for 2nd Shift is $26.25 per hour (including shift differential) and for 3rd Shift is $26.75 per hour (including shift differential).

Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections.
  • Adjust heat settings and enter operating parameters.
  • Enter correct code dates and required identity data.
  • Secure packaging materials, verify against the production schedule, and position on the machine.
  • Conduct quality and safety checks regularly throughout the shift.
  • Perform repairs, replacements, lubrication, and preventative measures as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and make necessary adjustments to meet quality standards.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, SQF, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate production records.
  • Provide leadership to line personnel professionally.
  • Track downtime and document corrective actions and root causes.
  • Possess knowledge of cheese varieties, physical characteristics, and effects on machinability.
  • Use setup equipment for cutting, cubing, and shredding to ensure correct sizing.
  • Inspect and calibrate powder application equipment.
  • Assemble and align guides, chutes, and shrouding on packaging systems.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of scaling, box erecting, case sealing, and labeling equipment.
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
  • Assist in training when needed and perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to pass assessments.
  • Ability to accept and give constructive criticism.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in math, problem solving, and understanding computers/HMIs.
  • Self-motivated with limited supervision required.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work flexible hours including overtime and weekends.
Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; additional education, forklift, or manufacturing experience desirable.

Working Conditions:

Clean, climate-controlled environment; ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

Work Hours:
  • 2nd Shift: Mon-Fri, 1:45 pm - 10 pm; some Saturday hours.
  • 3rd Shift: Mon-Fri, 9:45 pm - 6 am; some Saturday hours depending on production needs.
