Job summary

California Armenian Home is seeking an Activity Assistant for the Life Enrichment team in Fresno, CA. You will design and implement programs to enhance residents’ physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being in a skilled nursing setting.

Qualifications include English proficiency, creativity, and strong interpersonal skills. A high school diploma is required, with preferred experience as an Activity Assistant in a skilled nursing environment.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with residents and their families to ensure activities align with interests.
• Follows an activity plan appropriate to residents' needs, including group, indoor/outdoor, and spiritual activities.
• Develops and promotes creative activities (arts, crafts, music, education) aligned with regulations.
• Motivates residents to participate and tracks attendance and outcomes.
• Prepares a monthly activity calendar in large print, posted in public locations.
• Coordinates activity programs with other departments and supports resident participation.

Job Description

Summary: Provides for an ongoing program of activities designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each resident.

Experience Required: Experience as an Activity Assistant in a Skilled Nursing Setting preferred

Essential Functions:

• Works closely with residents and their families to assure that the resident’s activities interest is being fulfilled.
• Follows a plan of activities appropriate to the needs of the residents that includes, but is not limited to Group Social activities, indoor/outdoor activities, activities away from the facility, spiritual programs, opportunity for resident involvement in planning and implementing the activity programs.
• Creative activities such as arts, crafts, music and educational programs, exercise activities, one to one attention, room visits when needed and promotion of facility and community interaction, and is compliant with all state and federal regulations.
• Ability to motivate residents to participate in activities
• Must be organized and efficient, must be able to set and achieve goals.
• Assist in preparing a monthly calendar of activities written in large print and posted in prominent locations that is visible to residents and visitors.
• Coordinate activity programs with other departments.
• Encourage resident participation in activities and document attendance and outcomes.
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members, nursing staff and all departments.
• Ability to develop goals, organize and prioritize work and comply with all state and federal regulations.
