Job Summary

The Certified Medication Aide assists in administering medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the supervision of the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing Services. The administration of medications shall comply with established nursing standards, facility policies, procedures, practices, and state regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Comply with facility's personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Report any suspected resident abuse or neglect immediately.
  • Treat residents, families, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident and family information.
  • Ensure timely and accurate medication administration, documentation, and storage following facility policies.
  • Assist with medication disposal and documentation of discontinued medications.
  • Follow procedures for drug receipt errors and resident self-administration of medications.
  • Monitor and report medication refills and errors promptly.
  • Be familiar with medical abbreviations and terms related to medication administration.
Job Requirements
  • Valid CMA certification in good standing with the State.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Flexibility to work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to assist in emergency evacuations.
  • Meet health requirements per state regulations and company policies, including medical and physical exams.
  • Use of transfer/gait belts or assistance when lifting or carrying objects over 25 pounds.
