Job summary

Spring Harbor At Green Island in Columbus, GA is seeking an Assisted Living Certified Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate personal care, support residents with daily living activities, and promote dignity and independence. Qualifications

  • Current and valid CNA certification recognized in the state of employment.
  • Completion of a state-approved CNA training program.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (BLS-American Heart Association).
  • Basic knowledge of assisted living care standards and resident rights.
  • Ability to pass a background check and health screening.
  • Ability to pass a Drug Screen.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
  • Monitor and document residents' physical and emotional conditions; report changes to nursing staff.
  • Provide companionship and encourage social engagement.
  • Maintain a clean, safe living environment following infection control protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to develop and implement personalized care plans.
  • Follow detailed instructions with strong communication.
  • Assist with dining, tray setup, nourishment intake, and record consumption.
  • Respect privacy and promote independence; encourage participation in activities.
  • Respond to call lights promptly and keep them within reach.
  • Cope with problems in the area of responsibility; escalate when needed.
  • Refer non-routine problems to supervisor.

About the Role:

As an Assisted Living Certified Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to residents in an assisted living environment. Your primary focus will be to support residents with their daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity at all times. You will work closely with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to monitor residents' health and report any changes promptly. This role requires a strong commitment to fostering a positive and respectful environment that promotes residents' independence and well-being. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute significantly to enhancing the quality of life for those under your care.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification recognized in the state of employment.
  • Completion of a state-approved CNA training program.
  • CPR and First Aid certification. BLS-American Heart Association
  • Basic knowledge of assisted living care standards and resident rights.
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet health screening requirements.
  • Ability to pass a Drug Screen
Marginal Functions:
  • Previous experience working in an assisted living or long-term care facility.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as may be required to meet emergency situations.
  • Consistently presents a professional appearance. Wears clean, neat uniform, clean shoes, stockings, name tag, no excessive jewelry, and short, clean fingernails.
  • Work area may be subject to noise, distractions, and interruptions.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
  • Monitor and document residents' physical and emotional conditions, reporting any changes or concerns to nursing staff.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, encouraging social interaction and engagement in community activities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents by following infection control and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Assist residents to dining area for meals or provide meals in room, as resident prefers. May be required to assist in tray setup and feeding of residents and documenting intake of nourishment. Serve between meal nourishment and assist as needed. Record amount eaten. Except when contraindicated, maintain clean pitcher and cup, and fresh water at bedside of each resident.
  • Assist in assuring the maximum quality of life for all residents by maintaining privacy, accommodating individual preference, promoting independence, encouraging and assisting participation in facility activities and events and communication respectfully at all times.
  • Respond to all call lights promptly. Keep call light within reach of non-ambulatory residents when unattended
  • Ability to cope with problems in the focused area of responsibility.
  • Ability to determine when to refer non-routine problems to the supervisor.
Special Demands
  • OSHA Exposure Risk Category – Level II – work environment involves slight physical risks that require following basic safety precautions (wearing safety glasses, lab coats, etc.)

  • The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 20 pounds. Must be able to push a minimum of 200 pounds and be able to push such weight a minimum distance of 200 feet.
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during an emergency.

Overall, these skills combine to create a supportive environment that promotes resident dignity, safety, and quality of life.

Attend unit meetings as scheduled, all mandatory in-services and optional in-services per individual needs and interest, for a total of at least 12 hours annually. Outside educational offerings may be substituted for optional in-service hours by providing proof of attendance. Mandatory in-service cannot be substituted
