Job summary

Trinity Health in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a part-time Pharmacy Technician. Under the direction of a Registered Pharmacist, you assist in preparing and distributing medications, maintain drug inventory, and keep patient records. Excellent customer service and strong communication are essential.

Hours are flexible with morning, afternoon and evening shifts available. We will work with your scheduling needs to balance life and work.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred completion of formal pharmacy technician training program.
• Licensed Pharmacy Technician in Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, packages, and distributes medication orders per physician/pharmacist request in accordance with rules and policies.
• Maintains logs, records, and documentation and orders packaging and scheduling deliveries.
• Performs basic pharmaceutical calculations and assists in training students/residents as assigned.
• Delivers courteous, timely service with strong verbal and written communication.

Description

Under the direction of a Registered Pharmacist, assists Pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Provides courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and staff. Hours- Flexible, morning, afternoon and evening shifts available. We will work with your scheduling needs.

Education

• Minimum: High School education or equivalent.
• Preferred: Completion of formal pharmacy technician training program.

Credentials/Licensure

• Minimum: Pharmacy Technician License (issued by Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Bureau of Professional Licensing)
• Preferred: Certified Pharmacy Technician by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

Related Experience

• Preferred: 2+ years pharmacy work experience in long term care pharmacy setting.

Essential Functions

• Prepares, packages, and distributes medication orders per physician/pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations and established policies, procedures, or protocols.
• Contributes to effective and quality operation of the department.
• Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation, files documentation.
• Order packaging and scheduling deliveries.
• Perform simple pharmaceutical calculations including, but not limited to, days' supply and weight-based dosing calculations.
• Participate in the training, education, precepting, and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
