Job summary

Rocket EMS is seeking an SMT Tooling Coordinator / Technician to manage tooling inventory, inspection, and readiness for PCBA production. The role collaborates with SMT Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and Purchasing to ensure correct tooling is available before runs, reduce changeover time, and uphold manufacturing quality.

Candidates should have hands-on tooling experience and strong organization skills.

Qualifications

• SMT tooling and manufacturing concepts relevant to PCB assembly.
• Familiarity with stencils, feeders, nozzles, and production setup tooling preferred.
• Understanding of document revisions and part numbers is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an organized inventory of SMT tooling including stencils, feeders, nozzles, and carriers.
• Review production schedules to identify tooling needs and flag shortages before runs.
• Verify tooling IDs, revisions, and compatibility against manufacturing docs.
• Prepare staging for setups and coordinate return, inspection, and storage after use.
• Inspect stencils for damage or contamination; perform tension measurements as needed.
• Clean and maintain feeders, nozzles, and other tooling per procedures.
• Identify damaged or obsolete tooling and coordinate repair or replacement.
• Maintain records of tooling locations, quantities, and maintenance history.
• Coordinate tooling purchases and outside repairs with Engineering and Purchasing.
• Support troubleshooting tooling-related print, feed, and placement issues.
• Assist with new product introduction tooling readiness.
• Perform periodic inventory checks and maintain minimum stocking levels.
