Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Surface Mount Assembly Technician to operate SMT equipment and assemble PCBA’s for defense programs. You will work with stencil printers, AOI, P&P machines, reflow ovens, X-ray, and hand soldering on various PCB assemblies.

Position requires reading drawings, attention to detail, and the ability to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance. Candidates may need to relocate to Northern Alabama and must be a US citizen.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read drawings and follow work instructions.
• Must be a US citizen and able to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance.
• Able to relocate to Northern Alabama area if not currently local.

Responsibilities

• Operate SMT equipment including stencil printer, solder paste inspection, pick & place, reflow, AOI, X-ray and hand soldering.
• Understand electronics packages such as 0402, 0603, and BGA and their SMT processing.
• Work under a microscope and perform hand soldering of SMT and Through-hole parts.
• Meet day-to-day objectives and contribute to team production outputs.
• Work independently with limited supervision and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Leidos’ Defense Systems Electronics Manufacturing is seeking a Surface Mount Assembly Technician to join our team that runs SMT equipment that produce a variety of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA’s).

Primary Responsiblities

• Working knowledge of SMT machines such as: Stencil Printer, Solder Paste Inspection, Pick & Place machine, Reflow Oven, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), X-ray and hand soldering
• Understanding of different electronics packages such as 0402, 0603, BGA’s and how they are processed on a SMT line
• Experience working under a microscope
• Hand soldering SMT and Through-hole parts
• Works to achieve day-to-day objectives and have significant impact on the work output.
• Works independently under limited supervision
• Work in team environment and interacting with different functions, project teams and productions teams

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 1-3 years of prior relevant work experience.
• Ability to read drawings and follow work instructions
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours daily.
• Must be a US Citizen and possess or meet the eligibility to obtain (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance
• Must be a resident of the Northern Alabama area or willing to relocate to the area.

Pre ferred Qualifications

• Surface Mount Technology experience or related electronics assembly experience
• Knowledge of SMT processes used to build Printed Circuit Board Assemblies
• Current or prior certification in IPC-A-610.
• Current or prior certification in J-STD-001.
• Experience on SMT equipment and hand soldering

Pay Range:

Pay Range $40,300.00 - $72,850.00
