Aerotech is seeking an SMT Operator to set up, operate, and adjust SMT equipment including paste printer, pick and place machine, reflow oven, X-ray, AOI inspection, and stencil cleaner. This role includes handling materials, programming adjustments, and maintenance in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least three years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets process documentation.
• Performs material handling and maintains inventory control.
• Processes jobs by picking and staging kits per detailed instructions.
• Operates SMT machines by prepping multiple machines, setting up support fixtures, entering programs, and loading/replenishing feeders.
• Performs manual component placement as necessary.
• Diagnoses improper SMT machine operation and makes minimal programming adjustments.
• Performs preventive maintenance on SMT machines.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts rejected by AOI or test personnel.

Position Summary

Essential Functions

• Reads and interprets process documentation
• Performs material handling processes and maintains proper inventory control
• Processes jobs by picking and staging kits in accordance with detailed instructions
• Operates SMT machines by prepping multiple machines, setting up support fixtures, entering programs, and efficiently loading / replenishing feeders with reels of components
• Performs manual component placement as necessary
• Diagnoses improper SMT machine operation and performs minimal programming adjustments
• Performs preventive maintenance on SMT machines
• Repairs or replaces defective parts rejected by AOI or test personnel

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Familiarity with ESD precautions
• Ability to carry out instruction in written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to deal with problems involving several variables
• Ability to identify components and electrical component values
• Effective computer skills including but not limited to ERP software
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

• Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
• May be required to sit for extended periods of time
• Noise level is moderate
• The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• At least three years of relevant experience
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
