Job summary

Alicat Scientific, Inc. is seeking an SMT Operator to load and operate surface mount machinery, inspect boards, and maintain equipment in our Tucson facility.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years' experience with Mycronic or similar SMT systems, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to read PCB layouts. You will collaborate with engineers and quality teams to ensure on-time production and product quality.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience operating Mycronic or similar SMT equipment.
• High attention to detail in inspection and assembly.
• Ability to read PCB layouts and follow work instructions.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and traceability.
• Understanding of electronics manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and load SMT machines.
• Inspect boards for defects and misplacements.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose SMT errors; adjust machines for accuracy.
• Clean and maintain SMT equipment and workspace.
• Record production data and machine performance; report defects.
• Collaborate with engineers and QA to keep line running smoothly.

Salary: $25 an hour

Shift: Training schedule: Mon-Fri, 8 AM-5 PM

Ongoing Schedule: Fri-Sun, 12-hour shifts, paid as a full 40-hour week

SMT Operator

Alicat Scientific, Inc. is seeking an SMT Operator to operate and maintain our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) machines. Duties of the SMT Operator include but are not limited to loading and operating SMT machines, troubleshooting and diagnosing errors, performing quality inspections to identify defects, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Experience with Mycronic equipment is preferred, though proficiency with comparable SMT systems will also be considered.

Core Competencies:

• 2-3 years of experience on Mycronic or similar equipment

• Ability to read PCB layouts and work instructions

• Understanding of electronics manufacturing processes

Day in the Life:

• Prepare and load machines
• Inspect boards for defects (misaligned components, solder bridges, etc.)
• Troubleshoot and diagnose errors and adjust machines to improve placement accuracy
• Clean and maintain equipment
• Record production data, defects, and machine performance
• Work with engineers, quality teams, and production supervisors to keep the line running smoothly
