Job summary

HYVE Solutions is seeking a diligent SMT Operator to set up and run SMT equipment for PCB assembly per specifications and production schedules. You will ensure quality, inspect boards, and document process details in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years SMT experience, can read assembly drawings and BOMs, and are comfortable working with pick-and-place machines, screen printers, and reflow ovens while adhering to safety and cleanliness standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1–2 years of SMT experience in electronics manufacturing.
  • Able to read assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Proficient in setting up/operating pick-and-place, screen printers, and reflow ovens.
  • Able to identify common SMT defects visually and ensure quality.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate SMT machines for PCB assembly.
  • Load/unload components and PCBs, ensuring correct placement and orientation.
  • Monitor machine operation and resolve minor stoppages to maintain flow.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of SMT equipment.
  • Inspect assembled PCBs for defects (polarity, solder joints, bridges).
  • Interpret assembly drawings and BOMs, follow work instructions.
  • Document production activities and machine settings.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain workspace cleanliness.
  • Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot SMT issues and improve processes.

Job Summary

The SMT Operator is responsible for setting up and operating Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment to assemble printed circuit boards (PCBs) according to specifications and production schedules, ensuring high-quality output.

Job Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate SMT machines (e.g., pick-and-place, reflow ovens, screen printers) for various PCB assembly processes.
  • Load and unload components and PCBs onto machines, ensuring correct component placement and orientation.
  • Monitor SMT machine operation, identify and resolve minor issues or stoppages to maintain production flow.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of SMT equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Conduct visual inspections of assembled PCBs for defects such as missing components, incorrect polarity, solder bridges, or poor solder joints.
  • Interpret and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, and bill of materials (BOMs).
  • Document production activities, including machine settings, component usage, and any identified issues.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper handling of materials and equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot complex SMT-related problems and improve processes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating SMT equipment in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in setting up and operating pick-and-place machines, screen printers, and reflow ovens.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise manual tasks.
  • Basic understanding of electronic components and their polarity.
  • Ability to identify common SMT defects visually.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610) preferred.
