Job summary

Vanguard EMS, Inc. seeks an SMT Machine Operator to collaborate with the Team Coordinator and supervisor to assemble PCBs to spec in a timely manner, upholding quality standards.

You will set up and run surface mount equipment, document quality results, manage material flow, perform minor maintenance, and support improvement projects while keeping a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

• High-level thinking, attention to detail, analysis and clear communication.

• Ability to handle very small/fragile components and tools.
• Ability to read drawings and use visual aids to verify quality.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Perform machine set-up, clean-up and surface mount operation per SOPs.
• Maintain quality documentation for set-up, operation, inspection and daily ops.
• Handle material activities to keep material in control in the machine area.
• Perform minor maintenance to keep machines running efficiently.
• Support continuous improvement projects and opportunities.
• Maintain a clean, organized area and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The SMT Machine Operator collaborates directly with Team Coordinator and department supervisor to ensure printed circuit boards are assembled to specification in a timely manner. This position is key to company quality standards.

What you’ll do:

Perform machine set-up, clean-up, and surface mount machine operation according to standard operating procedures

Maintain quality documentation for set-up, machine operation, inspection results, and daily operations

Perform material activities required to maintain accurate control of all material staged in machine area

Perform minor maintenance as required to operate machines in an efficient manner

Support continuous improvement by looking for opportunities for improvement and working projects

Maintain a clean and highly organized area and perform other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need:

High-level critical thinking, attention to detail, analysis, and oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated highly motivated strong leadership and teambuilding skills with self-motivation, problem solving abilities, team spirit and a “hands on” mentality.

Effectively manipulate extremely small and/or fragile components and tools.

Ability to use visual aids, complicated drawings to verify quality products.

Knowledge of common manufacturing processes and/or equipment operation Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent

Ability to obtain J-STD and IPC certification within 90 days.
