Job summary

Richardson Electronics, Ltd. is seeking an SMT Programmer & Operator Lead for 3rd shift. This role programs SMT machines, leads training, and oversees the SMT team to ensure precise placements and high-quality results.

The incumbent will work with Engineering to specify components and support existing products. IPC-certified training and strong troubleshooting are essential. The position includes supervision of the SMT staff, maintaining records, and coordinating with Manufacturing.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of SMT experience and knowledge of soldering practices.
• IPC certification or trainer experience is preferred.
• Ability to lead a shift and train technicians.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, troubleshoot, and maintain SMT equipment; provide guidance for optimal placements.
• Lead IPC-certified solder training sessions and ensure adherence to IPC standards.
• Train and oversee SMT staff; pause production if quality is jeopardized.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing and Planning to ensure materials and work orders flow smoothly.
• Maintain area organization, logs, and equipment maintenance records.
• Assist with failure analysis and coordinate rework as needed.
• Perform cycle counts and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Take on additional tasks as assigned.
