Job summary

Etched in San Jose is hiring an Equipment Technician to maintain and troubleshoot SMT production equipment. You will work closely with Production, Process Engineering, and Quality to resolve issues, support changeovers, and improve uptime and quality.

Qualifications

• Certificate or equivalent in electronics, automation, or related field.
• Hands-on SMT equipment maintenance or troubleshooting experience.
• Knowledge of SMT assembly processes and common defects.
• Ability to read manuals, schematics, and drawings; use diagnostic tools.
• Strong attention to detail and documented work.
• Good communication; able to work with cross-functional teams.
• Willingness for overtime or weekend support.

Responsibilities

• Maintain SMT equipment: printers, SPI, pick-and-place, reflow, AOI, conveyors, and handling gear.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and sensor faults; document root causes.
• Manage equipment readiness: feeders, nozzles, tooling, wear parts; calibrate per procedures.
• Support production setup and changeovers; verify feeders and programs before run.
• Monitor process performance to detect drift and recurring defects.
• Assist with troubleshooting using alarms, test results, and data; escalate when needed.
• Drive equipment reliability by supporting root cause investigations and improvements.
• Train operators on routine care, basic troubleshooting, and setup practices.
• Maintain a safe environment per ESD, lockout/tagout, and PPE requirements.
