Job Title: Sheet Metal Technician
Reports To: Department Lead
Job Purpose
This position involves the following: laser operation, forming sheet metal components by brake press, and prepping chamber component for paint.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Loads and unloads delivered sheet metal ontoracks.
- Bulk sheet metal skidmanagement
- Reads tape measureeasily
- Identifies proper material being used from partslist
- Uses overhead crane to move sheetmetal
- Selects type of material and quantity from sheet metal cutlist
- Loads sheet metal onto machine and uses computer to programjob
- Ensures materials are properlydeburred
- ensure identification of finished pieces with part number that come off thelaser
- Places cut and labeled sheet metal on skid for nextoperation
- Removes excess sheet metal from tray/tablebed.
- Responsible for laser maintenance: cleaning, emptying pans, replacingfilters
- Reads, understands, and interprets parts lists and engineeringdrawings
- Uses proper PPE when operating laser & brakepress
- Sets up brake press for bendingprocedures
- Forms material to the assignedspecifications
- Use of hand sanders and chemicals for proper chamber componentcleaning
- Know the difference between structural, mild, and stainlesssteel
- Identify components for propercleaning
- Able to acid cleancomponents
- Operate ahi‐lo
Qualifications
- Possession of High School Diploma orGED
- Required: Previous experience working in a manufacturingenvironment
- Required: previous experience running Trumpf Flat BedLaser
- History of goodattendance
- Taskoriented
- Good math skills with ability to convert decimals tofractions
- Ability to use the following tools: combination square, protractor, calibers,etc
- Ability to read and understand mechanical engineeringdrawings
- Demonstrated ability to followprocedures
- Accuracy in reading a tape measure up to1/16”
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret parts list and fill out quality check sheets
Mostly standing and walking work. Frequently pulling, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Lifting more than 50 lbs must be performed with mechanical aids; if mechanical aids are not available the lift will be performed by two or more employees in a team lift.Pushing, pulling and simple grasping. Position requires frequent bending, squatting, reaching, and twisting with occasional kneeling.
