Job summary

The State of Missouri, Department of Mental Health at Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center seeks Support Care Assistants to join our nursing service teams in a secure forensic setting. You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor health status, and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.

This position offers a base pay of $17.20 per hour plus a $2.00 per hour shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts. Overtime may be required to maintain staffing levels.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to work with clients with physical or mental illness, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, or geriatric population.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, treatment, and/or security of forensic psychiatric and/or sex offender clients in a secure setting.
• Assist with activities of daily living: feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, etc.
• Check vital signs, height, and weight as assigned.
• Collect and maintain records of fluid intake and output.
• Report on the condition of clients.
• Observe, report, and record changes in physical condition, behavior, and emotional status.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for client care and treatment activities.
• Report to work on time and as scheduled; overtime as needed to retain staffing.
• May perform internal environment of care checks or some security-related tasks.
• Requires heavy lifting and ability to stand for extended periods.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Base pay is $17.20 per hour with an additional $2.00 per hour for 2nd and 3rd shifts depending on scheduled hours.
