Job Description
General Purpose of Job

The Practice Manager (RN) is responsible for the day-to-day operations of one or more practice sites. This includes staffing, systems, patient flow, expense management, and other functions to maintain an effective, service-oriented practice. Ensures safe, quality care delivery according to current evidence-based standards. Provides nursing care and triage as appropriate.

Essential Duties

This description covers the minimum essential duties. Additional duties may be assigned by leadership, who also reserve the right to modify duties.

  1. Determine staffing needs with site providers and the Operations Director; manage staff including training, evaluation, and discipline; oversee caregiver records and education.
  2. Communicate a shared vision within the Practice; develop systems for smooth operations; meet provider and patient needs.
  3. Foster an environment of high performance, engagement, teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement.
  4. Maintain effective two-way communication with key stakeholders.
  5. Delegate responsibilities clearly to empower staff.
  6. Develop and monitor KPIs with the Operations Director and physicians; recommend corrective actions.
  7. Coordinate with Billing Office to ensure proper data procedures.
  8. Work with Quality Department to develop and monitor quality and patient satisfaction standards; address issues proactively.
  9. Monitor site budget with physicians; review performance monthly.
  10. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  11. Promote a safe work environment.
  12. Establish policies and protocols aligned with SMG standards.
  13. Develop clinical educational materials and protocols; provide patient and family counseling.
  14. Perform all RN duties as per the RN job description.
Job Requirements
General Requirements

  • Follow best practices (e.g., Rounding, AIDET).
  • Prioritize safety and report issues promptly.
Work Experience
  • At least 1 year of increasing responsibility in ambulatory care.
  • 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Leadership experience in physician practices preferred.
  • Experience with practice budgets, billing, and EMR preferred.
Education
  • Associate's degree as RN.
  • Current Michigan RN license.
  • Bachelor's degree and additional coursework preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide age-specific care.
  • Visual and auditory acuity for monitoring patients and operating equipment.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems.
