The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine seeks a SME IV – Scientific Data Analyst (Surveillance and Medical Intelligence) to provide biostatistical support for clinical and research studies in Silver Spring, MD.

You will work with the PHCoE and project teams, guiding statistical methods, performing analyses, and preparing reports for presentations and publications. This role requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD clearance.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree, Minimum of 10 years' experience required.
  • At least 13 years of full-time work experience analyzing large administrative healthcare data.
  • At least 3 years of full-time experience using the MIP or predecessor systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Project PI and biostatisticians to achieve project goals and provide guidance on statistics.
  • Provide statistical support and prepare reports for presentations and publications.
  • Coordinate statistical analysis and protocol data between protocols via ad hoc consultation.
  • Provide updates to research staff and implement changes as needed.
  • Lead the data analytic team in collaboration with senior scientists.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and attend required training.

HJF is seeking a SME IV – Scientific Data Analyst (Surveillance and Medical Intelligence) to provide biostatistical support for clinical and/or laboratory research. Involves performing statistical analysis on data collected from clinical trials and/or research studies.

This position will provide technical and operational support to accomplish the mission of the Psychological Health Center of Excellence (PHCoE). Located in Silver Spring, MD, the PHCoE is a Department of Defense (DoD) initiative focused on improving mental health service delivery and promoting psychological health among service members. It collaborates across the DoD, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other agencies to develop clinical practice guidelines for psychological health conditions, substance use disorders, and suicide risk. PHCoE also produces evidence-based resources, clinical support tools, and expert-reviewed briefs to enhance patient care, operational readiness, and human performance in military settings.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Responsibilities
  • Works with the Project PI and other biostatisticians to achieve the goals of the projects. Provides guidance in appropriate statistical methods as well as input into future design and methodology of studies
  • Provides statistical support via statistical consultation and data analyses throughout the courses of studies and prepares statistical reports for presentations and publications.
  • Coordinates statistical analysis and protocol data between protocols by providing statistical consulting on an ad hoc basis.
  • Provides relevant statistical and project status updates to research staff. Recommends and implements changes as needed.
  • Takes a leadership role in organizing the data analytic team in collaboration with the senior scientists
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Direct Supervisor: Direct authority to make decisions on employee hiring, disciplinary action, starting salaries and merit increases; Conduct employee performance evaluations and directs work activities.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree, Minimum of 10 years' experience required
  • At least 13 years of full-time work experience analyzing large administrative healthcare data.
  • At least 3 years of full-time experience accessing, navigating, and conducting analyses within the MHS Information Platform (MIP) or its predecessor systems
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Capability to independently conduct queries of large military health administrative data to create analyzable data sets supporting surveillance and epidemiological studies.
  • Capability to rapidly develop and execute analytic plans addressing specific to produce actionable responses to operational requests for information around mental health utilization, mental health care cost, mental health prevalence and other topics related to mental health across the MHS enterprise.
  • Capability to evaluate incoming analytic tasking requirements and advise the government on appropriate analytic approaches.
  • Capability to produce technical artifacts (e.g., reports, tools, briefings, presentations, and manuscripts) consistent with the KSAs described here and with the broader PHCoE mission set.
  • Experience in the design of clinical trials.
  • Knowledge of medical science and research.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to make effective presentations and publish.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance, including background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities
  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods
Work Environment
  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
Compensation
  • The annual salary pay range for this position is $127,000-$170,000. Actual salary/hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
