Job Description: Machine Operator - Small Rolls - Phoenix, AZ
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently seeking a Machine Operator to work within our fast-paced, energetic environment. This role primarily involves ensuring quality and delivery results, working well with team members to reach production levels, and promoting a safe work environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards, regulations, and rules.
- Participate in EHS training, safety observations, and hazard identification.
- Implement Continuous Improvement (CI) activities through teamwork and CI process participation.
- Monitor and assume responsibility for product quality during all phases of operations.
- Perform setup, operate, optimize, and troubleshoot label equipment to meet quality and productivity requirements.
- Prepare, test, and apply adhesives, inks, releases, or other chemicals to support operations.
- Ensure equipment runs according to operational standards, goals, and expectations.
- Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance as needed.
- Ensure correct raw materials are processed.
- Log and post production information into the computer and/or required logs.
- Communicate daily with other departments including planning, maintenance, leadership, HR, and coworkers.
- Maintain 6S housekeeping standards in work zones and walkways.
- Support packing and material movement tasks as needed.
- Support training and cross-training of coworkers.
- Assist in the development and rollout of Standard Work, including SOPs, Work Instructions, One Point Lessons, and Training Documentation.
- Perform other duties/tasks as assigned.
SUPPORTING ACTIVITIES:
- Two or more years of machine operating experience.
- Good mechanical ability.
- Ability to use rulers, gauges, and other measurement tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills without constant supervision.
- Developed work routines to ensure smooth machine operation and minimal downtime.
- Proficiency with computers and ability to learn additional programs.
- Ability to distinguish between finished products and specifications.
- Identify maintenance needs and ensure preventative maintenance is performed.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, extend, lean, and maneuver around equipment at varying heights.
- Ability to work standing for long periods.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 2 years of machine operator experience and basic knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies.
