Job summary

Tri-State Bobcat in Little Canada, MN is seeking a Small Engine Technician to diagnose and repair a range of outdoor power and compact equipment. You'll diagnose problems, perform repairs, and ensure equipment runs smoothly for customers.

This role offers a consistent Monday–Friday schedule, no evenings or weekends, manufacturer training, and long-term growth within a supportive shop environment. Competitive pay and benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of small engines.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and testing.
• Use diagnostic tools and computer systems to identify repair needs.
• Work with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Document work orders, parts, labor, and findings accurately.
• Communicate progress with Service Manager and ensure quality customer service.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Attend manufacturer training, including occasional out-of-state training.

Compensation: $25–$34/hour, based on experience and certifications

Location: Little Canada, MN

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM | No evenings or weekends

Do you have a strong mechanical background and enjoy figuring out how things work? Tri-State Bobcat is looking for a Small Engine Technician to join our Little Canada team. You'll work on a variety of outdoor power and compact equipment, diagnose problems, and make quality repairs that keep our customers' equipment running.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced technician looking for a consistent Monday–Friday schedule, strong shop support, manufacturer training, and long-term growth.

What You'll Do

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of small engines
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and equipment testing
• Use diagnostic tools and computer systems to identify repair needs
• Work with the parts department to obtain parts needed for repairs
• Document work orders, parts, labor, and repair findings accurately
• Communicate job progress with the Service Manager and help ensure quality customer service
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Attend company-paid manufacturer training, including occasional out-of-state training

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in small engine repair, equipment repair, or a similar mechanical field
• Experience with Bobcat, Toro, STIHL, or other outdoor power or compact construction equipment is a plus
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable using computers and diagnostic technology
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to lift, carry, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and perform other physical tasks required in a service environment
• Complete set of tools; eligible for our Tax-Free Tool Allowance Program
