Job summary

Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE
Repairs and maintains engine equipment, both gas and diesel. Maintains equipment inventory and equipment maintenance records. Serves as a lead person on a maintenance crew when needed.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of small engines, both gas and diesel, including
  • hydraulic equipment.
  • Responsible for sharpening all types of mowers used on course.
  • Assists in the maintenance, repair and operation of automated sprinkler system to include
  • fertilizing, mowing and spraying.
  • Operates all equipment used on course, and be available to use this equipment
  • when needed.
  • Performs preventative maintenance work, such as checking oil and fluid levels on all
  • equipment.
  • Maintains inventory records on repairs made, parts ordered, and parts inventory.
  • Acts as a lead person on course maintenance crew when needed. Coordinates work
  • of other crew members, assuring completion of necessary tasks.
  • Keeps vehicle records. [Performs other duties as required.]
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education and Experience
  • Graduation from a standard high school and two (2) years’ work experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of small equipment, both diesel and gasoline type engines and hydraulic equipment, to include two (2) years’ experience in the operation, maintenance, and sharpening of golf course mowing equipment.
Special Requirements
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
  • Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment, to include hydraulics, and small engine equipment, both gas and diesel.
  • Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures while making mechanical repairs; knowledge of maintenance, repair and operations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment with accuracy and speed, ability to create effective working relationships with employees; ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain written equipment maintenance records.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to listen, follow directions, and have a willingness to continue to enhance skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
  • Frequently lifts and/or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally objects weighing more than 50 pounds
