As a Vice President within our Small Cap Investment Banking team, you will help build and deliver a growing franchise focused primarily on sell-side M&A (with related financing as applicable) for family-founded/family-owned businesses, sponsor-backed companies, and select small-cap public companies. The goal is to bring the full JPMorganChase platform to small cap clients through deep partnership with the Commercial Bank and Private Bank. This partnership model is core to success—Vice Presidents who can work effectively across the firm, build strong internal connectivity, and demonstrate confident client presence will be well positioned to thrive in a fast-paced, high-opportunity environment.

Optional (include if you want to be explicit on scope): The team typically targets transactions in the ~$100–$500MM enterprise value range.

Job Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary day-to-day client point of contact and lead banker on transactions
  • Review and coordinate the analytic work of junior bankers to advance marketing and execution processes
  • Refine marketing and execution materials for maximum client impact
  • Oversee the creation of financial projection models, valuation analyses, and supporting materials
  • Liaise with internal and external parties on transactions (e.g., lawyers, accountants, counterparties)
  • Lead client negotiations, Q&A processes, and management interviews
  • Run sell-side M&A execution day-to-day, including workplan ownership, diligence coordination, buyer list development, outreach strategy, process management, and timeline control
  • Operate effectively in lean deal teams, providing hands‑on leadership across deliverables while ensuring consistently high-quality, client-ready output
  • Coach and develop Analysts and Associates by setting clear workstreams, providing actionable feedback, and deploying team capacity efficiently
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Prior work experience in an investment banking front office role
  • Demonstrated experience leading day-to-day execution on M&A and/or financing transactions
  • Experience training and developing junior bankers
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and defend their validity
  • Very strong quantitative and analytical skills (including Excel modeling and valuation work)
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines; aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop practical solutions
  • Adaptability; able to manage projects independently and assume a high level of responsibility as a member of a team
  • Ability to comfortably interact with clients in a professional and mature manner
  • Excellent understanding of financial, legal, and reputational risks facing large integrated investment banks in today’s environment
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Significant experience executing sell-side M&A processes end-to-end, including diligence coordination, management preparation, targeted buyer outreach strategy, and negotiation support
  • Experience advising family-owned/founder-led and/or sponsor-backed companies; comfort navigating multiple stakeholder dynamics
  • Proven ability to operate in a cross-coverage partnership model, coordinating effectively with internal partners (including Commercial Bank and Private Bank) to source, evaluate, and execute opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent workstreams and lean teams
