Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a Small Business Development Center Instructor and/or Business Advisor. This is a part-time faculty, union, exempt, and non-benefits-eligible position. This part-time faculty pool offers experienced business professionals an opportunity to share their expertise, remain engaged with the regional business community, and make a meaningful difference in the success of local entrepreneurs. Assignments may be especially well suited for current or former business owners, executives, consultants, subject-matter experts, and adult educators seeking flexible, meaningful part-time work. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on program need. Placement into the faculty pool does not guarantee an assignment. The Small Business Development Center values professionals who combine practical business expertise with a passion for education, coaching, and community engagement to help entrepreneurs start, grow, and sustain successful businesses. Successful candidates are selected based on the needs of the SBDC and the expertise they bring to the Center. Candidates are not expected to be qualified for both types of assignments. Compensation for this part-time faculty position is based on the Clackamas Community College's Associate and Part-Time Faculty Association salary schedule. All new hires will be placed at Level 1, per our Associate Faculty Bargaining Agreement. Business advising assignments will be paid at Group OP hourly rates, while instruction will be paid at Group 1 hourly rates. Individuals serving in both capacities will be compensated according to the applicable rate for the work performed. Assignments and work hours vary based on program needs, funding, and the successful candidate's qualifications and expertise, with anticipated workloads generally not exceeding 20 hours per week. Placement in the faculty pool does not guarantee an assignment or a minimum number of work hours.

Subject matter expertise may include, but is not limited to, entrepreneurship, business planning, finance, accounting, marketing, operations, human resources, business technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), government contracting, exporting, succession planning, and other emerging business topics that support Oregon's small business community.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Depending upon assignment, responsibilities may include instruction, business advising, or a combination of both:

Business Advising

• Provide confidential one-on-one business advising to prospective, start-up, and existing business owners in accordance with Oregon SBDC Network and U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) standards.
• Provide culturally responsive advising that recognizes and values the unique experiences, strengths, and goals of entrepreneurs from diverse communities while helping them navigate barriers to business success.
• Assist clients with business planning, financial analysis, cash flow management, marketing strategies, operations, business growth, strategic planning, succession planning, and other business management topics.
• Conduct business assessments and provide practical, client-centered recommendations.
• Develop and facilitate workshops, seminars, webinars, and customized training.
• Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with financial institutions, government agencies, community organizations, business associations, and entrepreneurial support organizations.
• Maintain current knowledge of business trends, emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and best practices.
• Support the SBDC mission of helping entrepreneurs start, grow, and sustain successful businesses.

Instruction

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, high-quality instruction in entrepreneurship, small business management, and related business disciplines.
• Provides student contact before and after class and by telephone, video conferencing, scheduled meetings or email exchanges as needed.
• Prepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate; incorporates the latest classroom technology when available and appropriate to instructional activities.
• Structures classes and curriculum to correspond with the overall program objectives; prepares clear objectives for students for each course.
• Provide instruction in classroom, online, hybrid, workshops, webinars, and customized business training.
• Understands, develops and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates sensitivity to diversity within the college community.
• Integrate current business trends, technologies, and industry best practices into instruction.
• Responsible for classroom and departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate.
• Understands and abides by college policies and regulations and other policies, procedures and materialsas required by the college, departments or divisions.
• Convenes classes on time and a scheduled.
• Evaluate student learning and maintain instructional records in accordance with College policies.
• Ensures and emphasizes safe working and classroom conditions and practices.
• Understands and uses the college’s computer system.
