Job description

Summary:

The staff Speech Pathologist is legally and ethically responsible for evaluating, planning and implementing programs for the communicatively handicapped population.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains consistency with Administrative and Departmental policies with appropriate behavior, dress, attitude, attendance, confidentiality, professionalism, and reliability.
  2. Plans and administers diagnostic evaluations/treatment programs for clients and completes required documentation such as case history, evaluation report, initial treatment plan, daily progress notes, and quarterly progress notes in a timely manner.
  3. Involves the client and family members or significant others in therapeutic planning, goal setting and recommendations for therapeutic interventions.
  4. Performs professional duties related to patient care in order to restore the patient to his or her optimal level of independence and function.
  5. Participates in established intra-departmental and inter-departmental communication systems and methods to achieve departmental and hospital goals.
  6. Is responsible for ensuring productive and efficient delivery of services through coordinated scheduling.
  7. Maintains required records/documentations as specified in department policy and procedures manual.
  8. Participates in medical chart peer review, case records review and utilization review as deemed necessary by management.
  9. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education/Skills

  1. Masters level degree in speech language pathology is required.
  2. Basic Computer Knowledge.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Experience

  1. New graduate entry level or any amount of experience in speech therapy is acceptable.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  1. Application to begin fellowship year. At onset of clinical fellowship year, apply for temporary license with Arkansas and Texas Board of Examiners.
  2. At completion of clinical fellowship year obtain full license with American Speech and Hearing Association, Certification of Clinical Competence, Arkansas and Texas Board of Examiners.
