TOPPAN Packaging Americas is seeking a Slitter Operator I for the nights shift in Elk Grove Village, IL. The role operates slitting and roll handling equipment, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency while supporting production flow and quality verification.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, basic data entry and measurement skills, and the ability to read rulers. It includes a 12-hour continental schedule with a $2.00 shift differential and a $2,000 retention bonus

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate core cutting and roll wrapping equipment.
• Cut cores to required sizes and ensure proper supply for slitting jobs.
• Weigh, label, and wrap finished rolls per job specifications.
• Palletize finished rolls and move them to the finished goods area.
• Perform quality checks before and after production runs.
• Review customer specifications and ensure compliance.
• Conduct final inspections of finished rolls.
• Follow GMPs, SOPs, 5S, and DTM procedures.
• Perform data entry in Shop Floor and Quality systems.
• Communicate machine status and job details during shift changes.
• Assist with preventative maintenance as scheduled.
• Issue work orders for equipment or repair needs.
• Follow all food safety and allergen control requirements.
• Report safety concerns, incidents, and quality issues immediately.

Shift:

C & D Shift | 5:45 PM – 6:15 AM (12-hour continental schedule)

Pay Rate:

$21.74 /hour + $2.00 shift differential

Retention Bonus

To reward long-term commitment, this position offers a $2,000 retention bonus, paid as follows:

• $1,000 after successfully completing 90 days of employment
• $1,000 after successfully completing 180 days of employment

Please note: This is a retention bonus and is not paid at the time of hire.

Summary Description

The Slitter Operator I is responsible for operating slitting and roll handling equipment to meet customer specifications while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role supports production flow through machine operation, material handling, and quality verification.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Set up and operate core cutting and roll wrapping equipment
• Cut cores to required sizes and ensure proper supply for slitting jobs
• Weigh, label, and wrap finished rolls per job specifications
• Palletize finished rolls and move them to the finished goods area
• Perform quality checks before and after production runs
• Review customer specifications and ensure compliance
• Conduct final inspections of finished rolls
• Follow GMPs, SOPs, 5S, and DTM procedures
• Perform data entry in Shop Floor and Quality systems
• Communicate machine status and job details during shift changes
• Assist with preventative maintenance as scheduled
• Issue work orders for equipment or repair needs
• Follow all food safety and allergen control requirements
• Report safety concerns, incidents, and quality issues immediately
• Provide break relief coverage for Slitter Operators
• Support other shifts or departments as needed
• Participate in Global Performance System (GPS) activities

We’d Love to Hear From You If

• You have experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (preferred)
• You can read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• You have basic data entry and computer skills
• You are comfortable using tools and measuring devices (standard and metric)
• You have experience with pallet wrapping, forklifts, or material handling equipment
• You can operate or are willing to learn overhead hoist systems
• You are reliable and able to work 12‑hour shifts

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
• Ability to read rulers and perform basic measurements
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
