Job description

Apply today to be a Slitter Operator with one of the most innovative and trusted packaging companies in the world. Printpack is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Slitter Operator position for the Converting plant in Grand Prairie, TX. This will be 12-hr night shift opening on a 3/2 rotating schedule from 7pm-7am: Sun/Wed/Thurs; Mon/Tues/Fri/Sat.

Additional $2.50/hr premium for NIGHT Shift only between the hours of 7pm-7am. Any hours worked outside of 7pm-7am will not receive the premium.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate Slitter in order to:

    • Ensure safety

    • Perform to quality, waste, and production standards and goals

    • Meet or exceed the customers (both internal and external) expectations

    • Meet the highest of quality standards

    • Communicate orally and/or in writing to other departments for resolution of mechanical problems, reporting defective material, coordination of job preparations, changeovers and daily shift information

    • Report production accurately and timely through Prism to include waste,WIP,time codes, raw materials, etc.

  • Ensure your own safety while operating the machine and that of those assisting with operations

  • Manage the duties of an operator, including but not limited to:

    • Prepare master rolls for slitting

    • Place rolls in machine and prepare for splicing

    • Properly segregate and label all materials (as appropriate) - for work in process, rewinds, trash, and hold)

    • Assist in removing rolls from rewind (as necessary)

    • Remove and weigh startup rolls/materials at beginning of job

    • Perform daily housekeeping duties to keep area clean and organized during setup, run and end of shift

    • Remove and weigh all waste

    • Keep trash waste separated from recycle materials

    • Properly store all unused equipment

Minimum Qualification:

  • Internal Candidates: Must be in good standing (No Discipline above Step 1 within 90 days at time of application)

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • 1 year of experience operating machinery/equipment preferred

  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure

  • Ability to be self-directed and multitask

  • Ability to follow directions
