Job summary

ProAmpac is seeking a Slitter Operator to support quality and food safety initiatives and ensure accurate run reports. The role requires reading orders, basic math, color matching, and safe operation of equipment in a manufacturing setting.

Applicants should have a GED/HS diploma and are encouraged to have some experience with slitter equipment and hazardous waste handling. This is a full-time, on-site position in Spartanburg, SC.

Qualifications

• GED or HS Diploma required.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic math.
• Experience with slitter or similar production equipment preferred.
• Ability to recognize and match colors to specifications.
• Hazardous Waste Training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports all activities in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality and food safety management system.
• Report any quality and/or food safety problems to personnel of authority to initiate action.
• Must be able to read orders, set up the machine, and keep run reports; read a tape measure and perform basic calculations; recognize and match colors to orders.
• Safety: follow plant policies, ensure guards, follow lock-tag-try, avoid hazards, handle and label hazardous waste, and follow safety rules.

• Supports all activities in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality and food safety management system
• Report any quality and/or food safety problems to personnel of authority to initiate action.
• Mental Ability – The Slitter Operator must be able to read orders and setup the machine properly. They must be able to communicate orally with crewmembers and keep accurate records in their “run reports”. The slitter Operator must be able to read a tape measure accurately and operate a calculator for basic mathematical computations. Be able to recognize and match color to order requirements.
• Safety – It is a plant policy to work in a safe manner. All Slitter Operators must ensure guards are in place, follow lock-tag-try procedures, observe hazards such as nip points, properly handle and label hazardous waste and follow plant and department safety rules.

Qualifications, Education And Experience

• GED or HS Diploma required
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of reading, writing, and basic mathematics on approximately a 10th grade level Exceptional time management and organization skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establish priorities to meet deadlines.
• Previous slitter experience is preferred (1 year), but not required
• Ability to match colors and possess color recognition
• Ability to read and understand production orders and quality specifications
• Good mechanical comprehension/ability
• Hazardous Waste Training
• Experience is necessary and can be obtained from working on similar equipment
• Self-confident, self-motivated polished professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
