Job summary

Borusan Pipe U.S., Inc. is seeking a Slitter Operator to slit material per plant policies, ensuring a safe and compliant operation on shift.

The role requires attention to quality and safety, with PPE usage and adherence to 5S and safety rules. You will inspect materials, measure coils, set up the slitter, monitor equipment, maintain records, and assist with changeovers and maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year of experience with slitting operation.
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and tools.
• Experience operating measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers and ovality gauge.
• Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and Slitter operation.

Responsibilities

• Examines raw material and slit coils for defects such as chipped edges or marred surfaces.
• Measures master coils and finished slit coils to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers.
• Operates the Slitter equipment and performs set ups during change overs.
• Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
• Collect and maintain production data.
• Review work orders and specifications to determine materials needed to be processed.
• Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
• Employee must follow the 5S implementation procedure.
• Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• Measure the coil with and thickness to ensure conformance to the quality requirements.
• Maintain and fill out all paper work for shift production.
• Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and keep it free and clear of debris.
• Check that all machinery is properly serviced before starting up and during shift.
• Assists in repair and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.
• This position may require operating Forklift and Overhead Crane.
• Communicate with crew to achieve a quality product.
• Assist in changeovers and Mill stops.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Slitter Operator shall operate in the functions of Slitting material in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment; hot when weather is hot and cold when weather is cold. Greasy, dirty and noisy environment. Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
