We are seeking a talented, motivated, and service-minded individual to join the team as a Slitter Machine Operator in our Phoenix, Arizona location. Every day, Smyth brings our customers’ labels and packaging to life, creating a customer experience that is second to none, and enabling them to stand out over the competition. This is a full-time opportunity, 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday, 1pm-9pm.

Key Responsibilities for Slitter Machine Operator include:
  1. Overall responsibility for the machine including set-ups, output, and maintenance.
  2. Performing changeovers, changing paper rolls, and removing splices, with a focus on strong mechanical operation and decision-making.
  3. Work closely with teams/departments to create an environment that supports workflow.
  4. Engage in areas of continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives in finishing.
  5. Work safely, abide by and promote established safety policies and procedures; identify and follow up to ensure unsafe conditions are managed.
The ideal candidate for Slitter Machine Operator must demonstrate:
  1. Effective time management and ability to prioritize multiple long- and short-term projects, meeting all related deadlines.
  2. Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  3. Independent judgment, proactive thinking, and strong analytical capabilities.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees at all levels of the company.
  5. Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, supervisory, leadership, and relationship-building skills to work effectively with a diverse group of people and personalities.
Education, Experience, and Credentials
  • Required: Computer skills and knowledge.
  • Preferred: High School degree or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in a converting environment.
  • Preferred: Previous experience with Lean Manufacturing and ISO quality systems.
