Job Description
Ametal Service Center is seeking a Slitter Machine Operator to work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Job Duties:
- Prior to starting the machine every morning, ensure all safety mechanisms are functioning properly.
- Transport material to the entry section, check the coil according to the work card, attach labels with width, thickness, and coil ID, and change the ID if necessary.
- Calculate and set up the arbor according to the work card.
- Set up over-arm spacer rolls according to the setup.
- Set the coil on the uncoiler and expand the mandrel.
- Open the coil and feed the strip to the side guide rolls.
- Lock the knife arbor, feed the strip into the arbor, set the de-burring rolls, and remove rust or defects.
- Check width and thickness according to the work order; if necessary, check camber, crossbow, hardness, and document on quality sheets.
- Prepare the tension stand with felts, tie scrap, feed the strip through the tension stand, and visually check the strip surface continuously.
- Perform a visual quality check of the strip surface, close the tension stand, and check the pressure.
- Switch to operation mode, run the coil until brake or full, continuously check the strip surface, and report quality issues to the supervisor.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Job Qualifications:
- Must be able to operate a slitter machine.
- Ability to calculate and set up the arbor according to the work card.
- Ability to check width and thickness according to the work order.
- Ability to perform visual quality checks of the strip surface, close the tension stand, and check pressure.
- Must be safety-conscious and detail-oriented.
- Must be dependable with a solid work history.
