Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Machine Operator - Slitter in the Kansas City area. You will set up and operate robotic and automated equipment to form or cut steel to precise specifications. The shift runs from 7 PM to 5:30 AM, with a pay rate of $25 per hour plus a production incentive bonus.

Responsibilities include quality inspections, maintaining tooling, reporting issues, and contributing to continuous improvement while following safety procedures and LOTO rules.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write and maintain production records.
• Proficiency with measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
• Capable of operating forklifts, cranes, and other required equipment.
• Regular, full-time, predictable attendance.
• Able to lift up to 60 lbs and stand for 10–12 hours.

About the Role

What You’ll Do

Who You Are

• Experience: Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred.
• Technical Skills: Ability to read, write, and maintain production records; proficiency with measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers; capable of operating forklifts, cranes, and other required equipment.
• Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, ability to work independently, strong problem-solving skills.
• Additional Qualifications: Regular, full-time, predictable attendance; commitment to lead and promote safe work practices per regulatory and company policy.
• Physical Abilities: Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, bend, stoop, climb, push, and pull.
• Ability to stand for 10-12 hours and maintain good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
• Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
• Use of abdominal and lower back muscles for support over extended periods without fatigue.
• Other physical requirements as necessary for the role.
