Job description

Job Description: Slit Film Operator

The Slit Film Operator maintains and operates a film extrusion line to cut continuous lengths of extruded film. Responsibilities include threading individual strands through tension bars and feed rollers onto a winder for packaging, removing full packages from winders or conveyor belts, and loading them onto doffing racks.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Set up the winder with empty cores, operate the machine, monitor product quality, and maintain equipment.
  2. Perform pre-operation activities to ensure proper start-up and minimize downtime.
  3. Load empty tubes onto winders or into tube magazines.
  4. Thread film material over tension bars, between feed rollers, and slitter blades.
  5. Thread slitted material onto winders for packaging.
  6. Doff finished packages according to specifications to meet quality standards.
  7. Inspect for waste and report defects or damages.
  8. Complete production paperwork accurately.
  9. Work collaboratively in a team environment.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Performance expectations include manufacturing or machine operation experience, physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., distinguish colors and shades, use scissors and utility knives, and perform basic math. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with computer skills and the ability to read and write in English.

Additional requirements include occasional overtime, working without direct supervision, reporting accidents immediately, and performing other duties as assigned.
