Job summary

Conductix-Wampfler is seeking a Slip Ring Assembly Technician to join the special engineered production team. Qualified candidates have 3–5 years of production/electronics assembly experience, with blueprint reading being a plus.

The role involves mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring per specifications, soldering, testing, and ensuring quality. A strong emphasis on 5S and safety is expected in this on-site position.

Qualifications

  • Education: high school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months related experience or training, or equivalent.
  • Ability to read BOMs and drawings.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules and operating instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical and mechanical components to produce slip rings.
  • Install wiring according to wiring specifications.
  • Operate tools to aid in assembly of slip ring products.
  • Connect color-coded and numbered wires.
  • Solder connections and crimp connectors to wire ends.
  • Test and adjust electrical assemblies.
  • Maintain 5S program and quality policy.
  • Communicate department needs with supervisor.

Assembles electrical and mechanical components according to information provided to produce a quality Slip Ring in a timely manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mechanical assembly of various size structural and electrical components.
  • Electrical installations according to wiring specifications.
  • Operates necessary tools, as listed on the job description, to aid in the assembly of slip ring products.
  • Connects color-coded and numbered wires.
  • Solders connections and crimps connectors to wire end.
  • Tests and adjusts electrical assemblies.
  • Understands inventory tools, such as work order, BOM, and TR cards.
  • Discusses errors in diagrams or production order with a supervisor or engineer to clarify assembly problems.
  • Coordinates and communicates department needs with a supervisor.
  • Responsible for the quality of the product being produced in the department.
  • Responsible for checking the accuracy of engineering, sales, and manufacturing offices' input to ensure customer final product is correct and within quality acceptance guidelines. Any changes or corrections must be communicated to appropriate departments so future product output is consistent with customer expectations.
  • Understands, supports, implements, and sustains 5S program initiatives and goals.
  • Supports and upholds the quality and EHS policy.
  • Upholds the Core Values.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, BOMs, drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write and/or verbally communicate correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
